When you drive a Ford, you’re behind one of the safest vehicles on the road. Ford Co-Pilot360 has a comprehensive range of drive assistance features that protect you and provide a safer driving experience. As your Ford dealer, we want to tell you about some of these features and how they assist you.

What Is the Ford Co-Pilot360?

Ford Co-Pilot360 is a suite of advanced safety features controlled by a combination of cameras and radar. Its systems are activated when you start your engine, and several of the individual systems can be customized to meet your requirements, for example, increasing or decreasing the warning distance between your vehicle and another. Many features are standard on all Ford vehicles or available for installation.

Ford Co-Pilot360 Systems

The active systems on your Ford are listed and explained in detail in your car manual.  We’re going to look at some of these features and how they keep you safe.

Lane-Keeping System

This technology scans the road surface and identifies the lane markers. It then works to keep your Ford centered within the lines. If it detects that one or more of your wheels have inadvertently crossed into another lane, it sounds and displays a warning. If this happens repeatedly, the system displays a coffee cup icon on your screen to warn you to pull over and take a break from driving.

Pre-Collision Assist With Automatic Emergency Braking

This system’s camera and radar continually scan the road ahead for pedestrians or vehicles. If they detect something in your path, the system computes your speed and distance and the speed of the pedestrian or vehicle to determine if a collision is possible. It provides visual and audible warnings of a potential collision risk. If you don’t respond in time, the system automatically engages emergency braking to prevent or mitigate a collision.

Blind Spot Infomation System (BLIS)

Regardless of how often you check your rearview and side mirrors, some areas are blind spots. These areas can be dangerous as you can’t easily see a vehicle or pedestrian that enters these areas. BLIS watches the blind spots around your Ford and automatically warns you of anything that enters them. BLIS includes a Cross-Traffic Alert that audibly warns if anything passes behind your vehicle when you’re reversing.

Hill Descent Control

Driving down a steep incline can be dangerous depending on road conditions and the incline’s angle. This feature activates when it detects your vehicle is descending and automatically applies the brakes when necessary to control your descent.
