Driver assistance technologies like Automatic Emergency Braking have become an expectation for most when shopping for a new vehicle. But Ford BlueCruise ® is one driver assistance feature that stands out among the rest. Available on several Ford models, it’s one of the most talked-about advancements in Ford's technology lineup, and useful for Dacono, Col orado drivers who go on long hauls or have heavy commutes. Ford BlueCruise ® takes highway driving to a new level of comfort, convenience, and confidence. What Is Ford BlueCruise ®? Ford BlueCruise ® is a hands-free highway driving system available on several models, designed to reduce driver fatigue on long stretches of road. When activated on compatible controlled-access highways, it allows you to take your hands off the wheel while the vehicle manages speed, steering, and lane positioning. While it’s very capable, this d riving technology is meant to make everyday driving less stressful but not to replace your attentiveness behind the wheel. How Does Ford BlueCruise ® Handle Speed and Steering? F ord BlueCruise ® is more or less the combination of A daptive C ruise C ontrol and A ctive L ane C entering. Adaptive C ruise C ontrol monitors the vehicle ahead and automatically adjusts your speed to maintain a safe following distance, even in traffic. Lane centering uses cameras and sensors to keep the vehicle positioned within its lane without you having to grip the wheel. For 2027, BlueCruise ® is even available with trailering capability, letting you drive hands-free w hile you’re towing. These systems work together seamlessly so your drive feels smooth and natural. Driver Monitoring and Safety One important part of how Ford BlueCruise ® work s is its driver-monitoring system. Even when hands-free operation is active, BlueCruise ® uses an infrared camera to track your eye gaze and head position. If it detects that you're not paying attention to the road, it will alert you to refocus. This is a key reason why Ford hands-free driving technology is considered a driver-assistance feature rather than a self-driving system. You stay engaged, even when your hands are off the wheel. Where Can You Use It? Ford BlueCruise ® is designed to operate on what Ford calls "Blue Zones, " which are pre-mapped sections of controlled-access highways across the United States and Canada. According to Ford, this covers approximately 97% of controlled-access highways in both countries. Outside of those mapped zones, the system will prompt you to take back manual control. For drivers in Dacono, CO, this means you can enjoy hands-free driving across a wide range of highway s like I-25 and parts of I-70, and beyond. Which Ford Vehicles Offer BlueCruise ®? BlueCruise ® is an available feature across a growing number of Ford vehicles, including the F-150, Mustang Mach-E, and Explorer, among others. It’s offered through different technology packages, so the availability can vary by trim level. If you want to experience Ford hands-free driving technology firsthand, it's worth exploring which models and packages include it.
